Councillor for Staines South and Ashford West Denise Turner Stewart has been working with local residents on a number of projects to improve the area.
The Ashford Road Residents Association wish to plant a wildflower margin along the full length of Ashford Road and the knee rail requires repair and replacement to enable Spelthorne Council to facilitate the planting safely, so Denise has been working with the residents association, allocating highways funding for the knee rail to enable the wildflower margin to go ahead. She will be supporting the project as it progresses.
In addition she has been working with Surrey Police to increase patrols in and around Hengrove Crescent following resident complaints of antisocial behaviour. Denise allocated funding for a new ornamental hanging basket post at the local shop in Hengrove Crescent, Ashford, to be installed this financial year to enhance the area, as well as considering tree planting through the Spelthorne Tree Wardens and Surrey Highways to protect verges and deter inappropriate parking in the local area.
A local resident commented: "It is my experience that Denise takes residents' concerns seriously, and will always take them up with the appropriate department/person without delay. She also is a very good communicator."
