Denise Turner Stewart Surrey Councillor Staines South and Ashford West has been working to improve open spaces around Staines, Laleham and Ashford.
She explains:
"I have been continuing to look for opportunities to enhance local rest areas for residents who are relying on our beautiful open spaces, park, public footpaths and the Thames towpath for much needed exercise and fresh air at this time.
"We have many stopping points for our walks in Staines, Ashford and Laleham and I am looking to arrange replacements for benches in disrepair and tree planting and landscaping to provide shade and shelter. These rest areas are very important for our elderly, families and parents with young children and residents with mobility needs.
"I am working with Staines Rotary who are developing a local tree planting and conservation project with opportunities for volunteers to learn tree planting and tree maintenance techniques and I am hopefull that this will provide much needed support for this environmental initiative."
